Introduction about Chorao Educational Society (CES)
The above famous words of the successful American Industrialist Mr. Henry Ford has become a benchmark statement, not only within the industrial world but also in the world of education at a small Chorao Island in the tiny state of Goa in the majestic country of India.
43 years and still growing strong in the pursuit and promotion of education on Chorao Island in the ever popular state of Goa in India is situated, Chorao Educational Society.

Original Aim of Chorao Educational Society
The first and original aim of the CES was pretty plain and simple: To provide education to the children of Chorao Island and surrounding areas.
The Early Beginnings
The Chorao Educational Society embarks in 1970 in starting the DAYANAND HIGH SCHOOL with over 175 students from Standard 05th to Standard 11th. Shri. Victor Sequeria is elected the president of C.E.S. and Principal of the School. Shri. Tej Bahadur Singh is appointed Head Master of the School. Not to forget, the first Chief Minister of Goa, Late Dayanand Bandodkar allots 7 rooms – Government Primary School Building at Boctavado and pledges his support.
1974 | In 1974, the Chorao Educational Society applies to the Comunidade of Chorao for a plot of 3,000 Square Meters. | |
1978 | 30th June 1978, Shri. Tej Bahadur Singh takes over as President of C.E.S. | |
1986 | 28TH July 1986 saw the possession of the land to the society. | |
1989 | In 1989, Chorao Education Society (CES) obtains license from the village Panchayat of Chorao in North Goa, to construct the building for the High School. In the same year the foundation for the new building was laid. |
1990 | In March 1990, Construction of the new school building starts. | |
1994 | In March 1994, the new and spacious building of the School is completed. | |
1994 | June 1994, the C E S starts the Raghuvir and Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School of Arts and Commerce. | |
1994 | 05th September 1994, saw the inauguration of the new school building by Shri. Vinay Kumar Usgaonkar Education Minister. | |
1996 | In June 1996, the society starts an English medium play school, nursery and primary school. | |
1994 | 01st September 1994, Shri. Tej Bahadur Singh, Headmaster retires and Shri. Premanand P. Mahambare takes over as Headmaster. Professor Kashinath J. Mahale is elected president of the C.E.S. | |
1996 | 24th May 1996, saw the setting up of a new computer lab at the school. North Goa Member of Parliament, Shri. Harish N.P. Zantye inaugurates the computer lab. Under the MPLAD scheme the school gets 3 computers and a printer. | |
1997 | In 1997, the society obtains permission to construct an educational complex to house the Raghuvir and Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School. | |
2002 | On 16th July 2002, the foundation stone for a two storied educational complex is laid by Shri Manohar Parrikar, Ex- Chief Minister of Goa in the presence of Shri. Pandurang Madkaikar – Transport Minister and Local MLA. | |
2004 | On 09th April 2004, Shri. Ramakant Shirodkar is elected President of C.E.S. | |
2005 | On 23rd April 2005, Shri. Shripad Y. Naik MP inaugurates the educational complex in the presence of Ex – Chief Ministers Shri. Manohar Parrikar and Smt. Shashikala Kakodkar. | |
2013 | Today in 2013, the Chorao Educational Society in Goa, India stands as a proud and successful institution that acts as a Beacon (a guiding light) to the new generation of youngsters and individuals, encouraging them to be like the 09 fore founders of Chorao Educational Society who did not see the Dust from Chorao Island, but saw the Stars. |
