Introduction to Dayanand High School

Dayanand High School founded in 1970 is an English Medium High School and conducts classes from V to X. It was first recognized by S.S.C.E Board Poona in the year 1971 and subsequently by GBSHSE- Porvorim Goa.

Its aim is to impart a sound training, moral, intellectual and physical to enable the students of all communities to be useful to themselves and to others, their village and their country.

Co-Curricular activities are conducted to provide ample opportunities for an all-round development for the student’s life. The school is divided into houses for co-curricular activities to encourage unity and emulation spirit among the students. Organisations of various kinds are maintained by the School for the right upbringing of the pupil such as Student’s Council, Nature Club, House system etc. The school has a computer Lab, an audio visual room, a well-equiped library, laboratory, E-Rooms and a spacious hall.

 SCHOLARSHIP-GRANTS

Students can apply for E.B.C. scholarship, Scheduled Caste, O.B.C. Scholarships and other Scholarships of the Government. Students can also apply for books, stationary, uniforms and transport grant sanctioned by Director of Social welfare for S.C/ S.T. and OBC Students.

ATTENDANCE

1. The school hours are from 7:55 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday is a weekly holiday.
2. The first bell is rung at 7:55 when the staff and the students are required to be ready for school assembly.
3. Punctuality and regular attendance are insisted upon. Late comers are not allowed to enter the class without the Headmistress’s permission.
4. Leave of absence shall be granted on the application from the parent or guardian only.  (vide the page under leave and absence.)
5. No Pupil can remain absent from the examination except for reasons previously approved by  the Headmistress.

 Facilities

Our School campus situated in the beautiful island of Chorao , is a well maintained structure. We can boast of having a campus of 3000 sq. meters. We have a well equipped science laboratory, seminar hall, sports facilities, spacious ventilated class rooms and corridors, a computer laboratory, a library with assorted books etc, and all requirements for good learning to take place.

 Co- curricular Activities

To develop the latent talents of students various inter class competitions are organized every year. To name a few drawing, painting, poetry recitation, storytelling, elocution, reading, handwriting and table competition are conducted. We also provide the students with a platform to enhance their latent  talents in performing arts  like singing, dancing, art and craft.

All National days are celebrated with great fervour and patriotism. To promote the literacy talent of the students wall paper competitions are organized on all national days. The students also participate in the various inter school competition held during the year. Field trips, workshops, exhibitions, talks by eminent personality are also organized regularly.

 Sports

Sports play an important role in educating students as it teaches them to become strong physically and mentally. Qualities like tolerance, patience, respect etc are well taken care of on the playground. It also teaches the value of team spirit and proficiency to share and enjoy victory and humility to accept defeat. Children in the school participate in all sporting events organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA) and the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG). Summer coaching camps are organized every year during the month of April.
